About Interprofessional Education (IPE) Events
CTIPH events align with national IPEC Core Competencies, the Quintuple Aim, and the University of Arizona Strategic Plan.
Several IPE topics are available throughout the year. UofA students from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing-BSN, and Pharmacy are required to complete four IPEs. UofA Public Health, Nutrition/Dietetics, and Nursing-MEPN and BSN-IH students are required to attend two IPEs
Several IPE topics are open to studetns from University of Arizona, Arizona State University, or Northern Arizona University. A few IPE topics are limited to specific professions. IPE events range from 2-4 hours in length. Students who complete all requirements receive a CTIPH certificate of completion in D2L.

Harm reduction and stigma: SBIRT, Cannabis, and Pain & Substance Misuse
Patient-centered care and patient perspective: Disabilities, Team-Based Care Simulation, and Weight-Neutral Health
Team roles: Foundations, Global Health, One Health, Clinical Tobacco Cessation, and Disabilities
Closed-loop and team communication: Global Health, Team-Based Care Simulation, and Team Behaviors for High-Reliability Healthcare

Team communication and roles: Appears in nearly every event in some form.
Credit Bearing IPE
Interprofessional credit bearing courses are also available to students. The interprofessional Health Sciences Design program engages undergraduate, graduate and professional students in developing solutions to health care challenges. The program takes a creative, problem-solving approach to understand a problem.
The HSD offers a unique innovation space in Tucson that includes advanced equipment and expert faculty and staff, allowing students to develop critical skills and competencies in health sciences design thinking.
